Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) commitments ? Updates
Since 2010, SWA partners have come together every two years to table commitments and report on their progress. But with the new SDG framework and the new SWA strategy, the Partnership has been revisiting its cycle of activities and meetings. What does it mean for the SWA commitments and the progress updates?
- In this new cycle of meetings and activities, the first step was the organization of the first stand-alone Meeting of Ministers of Sanitation, Water and Hygiene in Addis Ababa in March 2016. Countries and donors were not asked to table any new SWA commitments.
- A High-level Meeting of Ministers of Finance is planned for April 2017. It is yet unclear what preparation will be required from countries and donors.
- In July 2016, The SWA Secretariat has called its country and donor partners to conduct and submit the final review of progress towards 2014 High Level Meeting (HLM) commitments by the 31 August 2016. Once SWA will have received all the reports from partners that made commitments at the 2014 HLM, the Secretariat will analyse the data and develop a global progress update.
